(Protein) Folding at home:pretty cool!
Just goofed around the internet on the subject of protein folding simulation. I for one used to totally distrust the predictive value of this, but it looked like they actually made some interesting progress! (and video and PR for people to help them fold proteins@home)

Anyway, for people who don't know why protein folding matters. It is known nowadays that the 3D-shape of these molecular machines does everything that is needed for your body to perform. Biologists claimed that many disease (Mad-cow disease, Alzhimer, or even cancer) have to do with misfolding of a protein. (I'm just quoting here, not an MCB person myself) But i guess it makes sense that a little bacteria and virus will attack such basis processes (why bother attacking by biting off one's arm while you can just get in the way a little protein and screw things up?).
